I now have been back from my California/Nevada/Oregon trip for nine days.
It's eight days to Halloween
Eleven days to the election
Thirteen days to November's art walk
And twenty four days before I get on a plane for Paris
Which leaves me with approximately three weeks to create the entirety of a show.
I'm now going to kick-start this blog into gear and hopefully be updating daily with work progress.
Essentially, for the Form/Space show, I'm going to create and installation combining a large constructed spire made of salvaged wood in the center of the space with the walls filled with single layer hand drawn stencils. I'm also intending on adding banners of cut bird silhouettes. The overall aim of the project is create an installation specific for the space that emphasizes the vertical quality of the gallery. For those of you unfamiliar with the gallery, it is essential a large, wall to wall stairwell that reminds me of a 60's high school or some civic building.
It's now Thursday. I spent Sunday as my first day full-on attacking the project, collecting three loads of pallet wood.
The day was beautiful, beautiful and perfect for hunting for wood. Though a lot of the more reliable spots were vacant, including every granite tile location.
I then spent the entirety of Monday knocking the nails out of the boards.
Then the entirety of Tuesday building frames. Which included ripping some old frames apart.
Then for the past two days I've done nothing but computer work. Which is somehow much, much draining than ripping pallets apart.
I'll get back to building frames after this. And hopefully somehow I'll be able to finish all of these projects and intentions.
